Pets in Heaven

Heaven

Will God restore our pet animals back to us when we live in Heaven and/or the New Earth?

There simply is no direct biblical answer to this question. However, we do know that there will be animals on the New Earth. The prophet Isaiah wrote in detail about what he saw on the New Earth:

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11:6–9

“‘The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,’ says the Lord.” Isaiah 65:25

While we know there will be animals on the New Earth, the Bible does not explicitly say whether or not our pets from this life will be with us in the next. However, one could at least hope that they might see their loving pets again, based on a few general Bible promises.

First, the Bible says that with God, all things are possible to him who believes (Matthew 19:26; Mark 9:23). If we truly believe God will restore our pets to us, then perhaps He will. Also, Matthew 7:11 says that God is a giver of “…good things to those who ask Him!” God indeed wants good things for us, therefore, it is possible that He may restore our pets to us as a gift, if we ask Him. Of course, if He chooses not to, I doubt any of us will express anger and dissatisfaction for not getting what we want or expect.

God knows the end from the beginning. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 46:10; Isaiah 55:9). If He chooses not to restore our pets, then we will know and agree that His judgment is righteous, just, and perfect (Romans 2:5) because we can trust God in all things (Proverbs 3:5–6).
