Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient

Godhead

Does the Bible teach that God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient?

First it is important that we define these terms:

Omnipresent means to be everywhere at once.

Omnipotent means almighty or all powerful.

Omniscient means to know all, or to be all knowing.

Rather than its conceptual meaning, only one of these three terms is directly used in the Bible. God’s omnipotent nature is described in Revelation 19 using the actual word (emphasis supplied throughout):

“And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, ‘Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!'” Revelation 19:6

While the Bible may not use these actual words to describe the nature of God, the very meanings and concepts are communicated throughout Scripture:

God is Omnipotent

“And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.” Ephesians 1:19 (See also Matthew 19:26, Colossians 1:16–17)

God is Omnipresent

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:7–10 (See also Hebrews 4:13, Matthew 28:20)

God is Omniscient

“Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.” Psalm 147:5 (See also 1 John 3:20 and Psalm 139:1–4)

The Bible clearly communicates that God is all powerful (omnipotent), He is everywhere (omnipresent), and He knows all things (omniscient). There is none like Him! (Isaiah 45:5–7.)
